Among the semi-rural areas in Hemel Hempstead, Felden stands out. It is southwest of Hemel and borders a railway station. It comprises a small community with semi-urban houses occupying the majority of the area.
This straightforward Hamlet is home to the Boys Brigade, the single largest uniformed Christian Youth Organization in the UK. The Felden Lodge, which hosts this group and sits within the neighbourhood, was first built in the 19th Century. Over the years, ownership passes on, but one thing that remains evident is the historical significance of this lodge. With a walled garden, pleasure grounds, and a Japanese garden inside, the lodge sits on a 32acre land with all the qualities pointing to a fun time out with friends or family.
Although Felden has a little history, the Box Lane Chapel is a present reminder of how far religion has come. Since its construction in the 17th Century, the Chapel sits firmly west of Felden and is a historic landmark in the neighbourhood and the entire Hempstead Constituency. Oliver Cromwell, the famous English statesman who led a revolution against King Charles 1, worshipped here for a period.
Besides the Chapel, Felden has an infamous skyscraper-like water tower. This brick-built structure, fully fitted with a tiled roof, sits on half an acre adds a fanciful appearance to the area. It also holds over 50,000 gallons of water and is 80 feet deep. Visitors who frequent the neighbourhood don’t get tired of viewing this magnificent structure built in 1910.
Felden is currently growing at a fast rate, and this has caught the eye of investors worldwide. The average cost of property in the neighbourhood is slowly but carefully rising as the area’s economic value increases. Apart from real estate, the demand for land has also put Felden on a nationwide map.
Felden has a couple of meaningful and fun nearby places to visit, including the Snow Centre, where kids and adults can enjoy a day of skiing in the indoor snow. After a long day, Cineworld proves to be the best joint for calm and relaxation while watching favourite movies. Other eventful places include the DJs Play Park for kids and Jungle Mania.
What Felden lacks in one department clearly compensates for in another. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, the business hasn’t been as usual as traveling came to a halt. Currently, the neighbourhood has safety measures in place to ensure the safety of everyone who visits.
